JOHANNESBURG – Who needs #Skwadgoals, when you can do it for yourself and the other ladies?

With the massive success of Suicide Squad and the popularity of her character, Australian-born actress Margot Robbie has signed on for her own solo Suicide Squad spin-off film based on her crazy psychotic character, Harley Quinn.

This new deal ensures that Robbie will not only star in the yet unnamed film, but will be the executive producer in partnership with Warner Bros. and her own production company LuckyChap Entertainment.

Warner Bros. has built a relationship with the actress, who starred in Focus and The Legend of Tarzan for the studio before becoming one of the key factors behind Suicide Squad grossing more than $700 million worldwide,” according to a statement published on The Hollywood Reporter’s site.

The solo movie will form part of a bigger initiative initiated by Warner Bros to create a space for more women and under-represented creators to have a voice and contribute their own content.

It was previously rumored that a film including Robbie and other classic female superheroes from DC Comics would be made after her starring role in Suicide Squad, further inspiring interests in developing more female superhero-led films.

Now, with her new signed deal with Warner Bros and her production company, it just might be possible.
