Working remotely has become the norm for most people due to restrictions implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

For most people, the sudden shift meant they would be spending a lot of time at home, but working remotely does not have to mean being at home.

Now that the country is no longer in lockdown workers have options to work from different locations, making this new norm a little more exciting.

Here are some spots that aren’t your house that you can use as a temporary office:

1.Coffee shops

An obvious choice would have to be a coffee shop, as not only will you get your caffeine fix but most coffee shops have plug points and even free wifi. Be careful with free wifi though as it can leave you vulnerable to computer viruses and hackers. The only drawback with working out of a coffee shop though might be some noise from other customers but with the perfect noise-cancelling earphones, that can be sorted out.

2. Libraries

Most libraries are finally open which means we can go back to reading tangible books (eBooks just aren’t the same). Libraries also make the best temporary office because unlike cafe’s or most public spaces, libraries are a quiet space. Whether you go to one in a university or a public library, you will enjoy some peace and quiet and you don’t even have to spend a cent.

3. Coworking spaces

Coworking spaces are perfect for those that crave a traditional office aesthetic. Here you can meet up with your colleagues or network and meet new people. Some coworking spaces even offer refreshments so you will be able to snack as often as you would like.

4. Art galleries

Perfect for creatives, working from an art gallery might be the best option on this list. Traditional offices are usually very bland and generic-looking but art galleries, on the other hand, have more colour and that can inspire workers leading to an increase in productivity. One day here and going back to the office would be difficult.

5. Airbnb

Just because you are tired of being in your own home doesn’t mean you can’t book into a different home right? People are opting to book houses that are more luxuries to work out of and even though it might sound extreme, don’t knock it until you try it. Just being in a different area will put you in a better mood, and after work, you can explore the area you’re staying in.
