Jesy Nelson has sent her thanks to everyone who has “shown her support” since she announced her departure from Little Mix.

The ‘Power’ hitmaker announced this week she is stepping away from the girl group after nine years, and on Thursday (17.12.20), she reached out to those who had sent her well wishes over the past few days to say thank you for their kind messages.

She wrote on her Instagram story: “I just want to say thank you so much to everyone of you that has shown me so much love and support over the past few days some of your messages have made me feel so emotional and I appreciate it so much love you all (sic)”

Jesy, 29, announced her departure on social media, where she admitted public scrutiny whilst in the band had negatively impacted her mental health.

She said in her statement: “The truth is recently being in the band has really taken a toll on my mental health. I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.

“There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focussing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin that process.

“So after much consideration and with a heavy heart, I’m announcing I’m leaving Little Mix.”

And confirming the news just moments after Jesy’s post, Little Mix – now comprised of Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall – said in a statement: “After an amazing 9 years together Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix. This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy.”
