Social media users have gone wild for a new foodie trend that sees cauliflower cheese laden onto thick bread and then toasted.
Fancy toast toppings, in particular avocado, have been a huge food trend in recent years, with smashed peas on toast recently becoming an Instagram favourite among millennial foodies.
But, the latest indulgence seems to be picking up traction among food lovers, with food guru Nigella Lawson backing the trend.
How to make cauliflower cheese on toast
Turn oven on high (246C)
Lightly toast two slices of thick bread and set aside
Boil a few cauliflower florets for about 10 minutes, drain and set aside
Make a roux, or white sauce, by mixing 20g of flour and 20g of butter and cooking on a low heat
Add 100ml of whole milk slowly.
Once the sauce has thickened, add two teaspoons of mustard powder, a pinch of nutmeg and handful of cheese (Del used a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)
Stir thoroughly until smooth and mix in cauliflower and allow to cool for five minutes
Add to the uncooked side of the bread and bake until golden brown
Add chilli flakes to taste.
