It is time for avocados to take the back seat because foodies are hopping onto a new trend that swaps out the green fruit for some cauliflower.

Even though millennials are obsessed with avocado on toast, the new cauliflower on toast trend is gaining some traction since it first became popular in 2020.

Adding cheese to cauliflower takes what most people think is the worst tasting vegetable to a whole new level.

Some users have even said that the recipe is perfect for those that are struggling from a hangover, which does not sound too far fetched since broccoli is a great cure for hangovers.

Food writer Nigella Lawson tweeted about the dish and her followers were excited to try it out.

Some users took to Instagram to share their masterpieces which will convince any cauliflower hater to try it out.

Here is how you can make cauliflower cheese on toast at home 

Turn oven on high  (246C)

Lightly toast two slices of thick bread and set aside

Boil a few cauliflower florets for about 10 minutes, drain and set aside

Make a roux, or white sauce, by mixing 20g of flour and 20g of butter and cooking on a low heat
Add 100ml of whole milk slowly.


Once the sauce has thickened, add two teaspoons of mustard powder, a pinch of nutmeg and a handful of cheese (Del used a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)

Stir thoroughly until smooth and mix in cauliflower and allow to cool for five minutes

Add to the uncooked side of the bread and bake until golden brown

Add chilli flakes to taste.
