[Firstly, What is a Churro?

A churro is a fried-dough pastry snack. Churros are popular in Spain, Portugal, France, the Philippines, Ibero-America and the Southwestern United States. In Spain, churros can either be thin or long and thick.]

Ingredients

6 tbsp. unsalted butter

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

1 stick of cinnamon

1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon

2 1⁄4 cups flour

1 egg

2 cups sugar

Cooking oil, for frying

Instructions

Boil butter, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, and 2 1⁄4 cups water in a saucepan over medium heat.

Remove the stick cinnamon.

Add the flour whilst stirring with a wooden spoon until a smooth dough forms. Do this for about 5 minutes.

Transfer the dough to a bowl and add an egg.

Stir the egg vigorously into the dough until it is smooth.

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with 3⁄8″ ( fingers length and width) star tip and set aside.

Pour oil into a deep frying pan and make sure the oil is hot but not scorching hot!

Hold the piping bag above oil and pipe about 4 cm of dough into pan. Cut each piece with a scissors to allow dough to drop into the oil.

Fry, turning the churros often, until it becomes golden brown, approximately 2 minutes.
Transfer the churros to paper towels to drain briefly.

Toss it around lightly in a dish with cinnamon-sugar mixture, and quickly shake or roll until its evenly coated.
And…. voila!!!! A stunning golden brown crispy churro with a soft cakish centre. Something different!

Please note:

For perfect churros, the oil should be about 400 degrees. Do not put too many churros into the oil at the same time as it will affect the heat. Dont rush, just enjoy the brief interval between frying the batches of churros.
