Entrepreneur, author, and medical doctor Tshidi Gule, 34, believes prevention is better than cure.

As a student at Wits University, Gule started thinking about ways to help South Africans understand and take control of their overall health.

In 2012, she opened the MediSpace Lifestyle Institute, a multi-pronged solution that provides healthcare services and education. The Johannesburg clinic offers a host of primary and specialised healthcare services, including alternative treatments.

Also under the MediSpace brand is MediBusiness, which takes the clinic’s services into workplaces, providing cost-effective employee health services for companies. With the MediMobile app, patients are connected to their doctors 24/7, and can track stats for their health.

“We help patients with lifestyle management by improving access, convenience and continuity of care,” says Gule. “I am deeply invested in preventative healthcare, because a healthy nation is a productive one.” In 2015, Gule published her business memoir Rough Diamond, about her transition from medicine to business under the mentorship of Basetsana Kumalo.

One of True Love Magazine’s Top 100 Most Inspirational Women in 2015, Gule is also a sought after keynote speaker. She has addressed the South African Medical Association, universities and women’s seminars.

Sounds like she’s just what the doctor ordered.
