Renée Hlozek is an assistant professor of astronomy at the Dunlap Institute in the Department for Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto in Canada.

She did her undergraduate degree at the University of Pretoria, obtaining a BSc in applied mathematics and physics.

She was part of the National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme at the University of Cape Town, where she obtained her BSc (Hons) and her MSc, the latter through the SKA Human Capital Development Programme. In 2008 she attended Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, leaving with a DPhil in astrophysics.

This was followed by four years at Princeton University as a Lyman Spitzer Jr Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences and within the Princeton Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts.

She is a TED Senior Fellow.
