Exam month is fast approaching and we asked some of our favourite creatives how they cope with the stress. They shared some of their top tips for acing exams!

1. Lists are your best friend.

If you’re not the most organised person, it’s a great time to start. Try to store all your notes in a single place (whether it’s in a folder or on your computer), keep track of dates (including revision days or extra classes) and consider your study space.

Joy Lakay, full-time model and PR student says “With such a busy lifestyle it is essential for me to stay on top of my schedule. My diary is honestly my best friend. If I don’t plan my week in advance, I find myself completely stressed and overwhelmed.”

2. Fuel up and Have a Plan.

When studying it’s best to fuel up on brain foods such as berries, avocados and walnuts. Tash Toefy juggles being a fashion photographer at Halve and Halve and studying a Bachelor of Art in Film & Media and English at UCT.

She believes that “Exam preparation requires structure and a solid work ethic, coupled with a Red Bull or two to get you through those late nights. If you’re on top of your work or at least have a concise plan, exam stress shouldn’t even have to be a thing.”

3. Study in Advance

Students are invariably busy and tend to engage in some degree of procrastination. That said studying in advance is Jamie Romin’s best bit of advice, “my best remedy for exam stress is studying in advance, learning everything early makes you feel well prepared and confident, that way when the exams roll around, you’ll have more time for some serious self-care!” says the second year photography student.

Just remember it’s going to be okay as long as you try your best. Your hard work and dedication won’t betray you.
