MOSCOW, August 26 – Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak and Mohammad Barkindo, the new Secretary General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), will discuss the possibility of freezing oil prices at their upcoming meeting on the sidelines of an international energy forum in Algeria late September. Russian Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Vladimir Voronkov said Friday.

“Barkindo noted the much useful work carried out by Novak in preparation of the [oil producers] meeting in Doha, and confirmed the relevance of the task of achieving an agreement on freezing oil prices, and said that this issue will be discussed at the talks,” Voronkov told RIA Novosti after meeting Barkindo on Thursday.
