As an award-winning comedian, actor, writer and presenter, Riaad Moosa is one of South Africa’s most popular and acclaimed funny men and he happens to be a qualified medical doctor too.

Known as the “Comedy Doctor”, he certainly seems to have the remedy for the nation’s ills – a healthy dose of laughter, straight up – and hold the aspirin!

Here are 10 reasons why we adore Riaad Moosa:

1. Moosa is hilarious. ‘Nuff said.

2. His show ‘Life Begins’ is a snapshot of his life. While most people would talk to a therapist, Moosa stands up in front of an audience.

3. He is unconventional and a game-changer. He comes from a conservative Muslim background where both parents are doctors, to being a stand-up comedian.

4. Moosa’s family is the most important thing in the world to him and he believes the rewards of being a father far surpasses anything else.

5. His nugget of wisdom: “…knowing nothing almost forces me to be less stressed out and start to understand that I’m not as in control as I thought I was. It has certainly helped me to live more patiently and enjoy each moment.”

6. He is quick to remind his audience that laughter lowers blood pressure, improves the immune response in the body, as well as improving respiration.

7. He’d consider giving a sword to a turtle so that it would transform into a ninja turtle.

Is that a ninja turtle? 🐢 #Maashallah #papparazzidad

8. He inspires us to explore unorthodox methods of head massage.

9. His Instagram bio reads: Comedian with an underutilized medical degree

10. Moosa is real, outspoken and refreshingly silly at times. It’s actually okay to laugh at problems, its okay to indulge in your imagination, its okay to follow your dreams even when the odds are stacked against you.

We adore you, Riaad. Shap.
