Although the omelette’s origin is unknown many associate the dish with the French, others believe that the Romans were actually the first to create the omelette.

This is because ancient Romans paired an egg with sweetened honey and called it “ovemele,” which is rather close to the modern term, omelette.

Spinach Omelette Recipe

Ingredients:

Chopped spinach (thawed and drained)

6 large eggs

milk

3 slices of mozzarella cheese

*Add mushrooms for extra flavour

salt and pepper to taste

Method:

The first step and very important step is to thaw and completely drain the chopped spinach. Then put the spinach in a skillet and warm over low heat.

Remove spinach. Break eggs into a cup and add a little milk. Scramble eggs until well beaten.

Pour into skillet. Add spinach and continue to scramble.

Finally add cheese, which should be torn into strips. Cook on low heat until eggs are done.

Salt and pepper to taste.

This dish serves three.
