Lindelani Township in the North of Durban gives us yet another great talent Jay Luvuno. Born Njabulo Makhaza, Jay Luvuno, as his stage name has his eyes set on the bigger prize as far as his music is concerned.

The same township gave birth to the likes of the Gospel sensation Fikile Mlomo, Radio Personality on Ukhozi FM Ntshathugodo Ngobe, Thembisile Ntaka from Adilah music group that was discovered on Coco Cola Pop Stars and Hip Hop star Bandile ‘Dr. Bone’ Mthalane.

With Luvuno as the latest addition, this township proves yet again to be rich with God’s given talent and it seems as though, there is a constant overflow and the number of stars just keeps on multiplying.

“I started writing songs when I was 12 years old and recording ever since 2007 at the age of 18. I have had years to perfect my craft and finally I feel ready and most certain to share with the whole South Africa what was to me a hobby for many years”, said Luvuno.

Although a new true entry to the legacy that was created by his hometown stars Jay Luvuno, this decision has come since the passing of his brother in 2015 whose dream was to see both of them making it big in the industry, his brother as a soccer star and Luvuno as a singer and song writer.

“After my brother’s passing I knew I had to get my ducks in a row with my music career. I felt that I had to at least work tirelessly to fulfill my dreams and in that way my brother would be happy for me since he didn’t live to fulfill my dreams,” added Luvuno.

Luvuno was featured on five songs in Dr. Bone’s street concert mixtape and his contribution included both vocal performance and co-writing some of the songs with the hip-hop star.

“I have had numerous live performance to add on my profile and that includes the 2014 Summer Festival, Ms & Mr Green Beauty Pageant at the Durban University of Technology in 2016 and many other intimate performances. Having done almost every genre in the spectrum, it so clear how much I do not resonate with being labelled as far as the music genres I choose to do,” explained Luvuno.

Fast forward to present, Luvuno is to release a single titled ‘Lula’ featuring Kingsize at The Waterfront Hotel and Spa, Friday September 07, 2018.

“My single titled ‘Lula’ speaks openly about reciprocation of affection and how we all are deserving to be in that in that position. The song is an urban neo-soul ballad, borrow influences from RnB and Hip Hop, a piano-driven song with church harmonies and tribal percussions. Written in IsiZulu, English displays lyrical genius and vocal presence with the best rap verse you have heard this year”, concluded Luvuno
