CAPE TOWN – South African women’s 800m Olympic gold medallist Caster Semenya has thanked her fans for their love and support during her Rio 2016 Olympic campaign.

Semenya won gold in the 800m final on Saturday night, breaking the South African national record in a time of 1:55:28.

On her Facebook page on Sunday, Semenya wrote: “I wish that i was able to express the way I feel right now. I can’t find the right words to express my feelings.

“Thank you everyone for supporting me throughout the championship, for showing me love and for believing in me. To my fellow South Africans Here is OUR medal WE made it!” she wrote.
