JOHANNESBURG – South African female coaches will close off women’s month with a week-long FIFA Coaching course which got underway on Monday at the SAFA Technical Centre in Johannesburg.

A total of 28 female coaches have gathered for this combined course which is being attended by among others prominent South African women footballers. The course will run until September 2.

Current Banyana Banyana captain Janine Van Wyk is also attending the course as the team takes a break before their CAF African Women’s Cup of Nations in November.

SAFA CEO, Dennis Mumble who opened the proceedings maintained that the future of women’s football in the country lies in the hands of these participants.

“We need to develop more and more people to grow the game of football among women. We need to ensure that we have as many brains as possible as women football is our future,” said Mumble.

“The Association is working on an exciting project for next year and we are glad that we will not have to look far to get the skills we need for this project.”
