After 17 years since the final season of Friends aired, the gang will be back on our screens on May 27 for the reunion special.

After a highly anticipated wait, the release date for the Friends reunion special was announced in a teaser video released by HBO Max.

The Central Perk crew made up of Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer will all be returning for the reunion as they can be seen with their backs to the camera in the teaser before the words “The One Where They Get Back Together” are displayed across the screen.

The iconic special will also feature guest appearances from celebrities like Justin Bieber, David Beckam, BTS, James Corden, Cindy Crawford, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga, Elliott Gould, Kit Harington, Larry Hankin, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, and Malala Yousafzai to name a few.

The original cast took to their social media to make the long awaited announcement to their fans. Jennifer Aniston wrote, “It’s official! The #FriendsReunion premieres May 27th on @HBOMax — could we BE any more excited?!”

Cox wrote an emotional caption, expressing how happy she was to have been reunited with her friends.

“This kind of thing doesn’t happen every year, or even every 10, or 15 years. I feel so blessed to have had a chance to reunite with my Friends… and it was better than ever,” she wrote.

Fans were quick to express their excitement with one writing, “Omg [Oh my God] I had like goosebumps & still do! Dude! 17 years later! Ross, Rachel better not be in break again! Phobe hopefully has 3 kids, Chandler & Monica please be crazier now & Joey ma man! Pizza only no ladies please! It’s like my whole childhood is back please!”

And another simply expressing that they are emotional.

“I am a little emotional, not gonna lie,” they wrote.

According to reports the reunion was filmed at the same location as the original was over a decade ago.

Originally, the reunion was set to be released in May 2020 but then COVID-19 happened which led to delays in production.

The show will be available to stream on HBO Max on May 27. No announcements have been made for countries that do not have access to the streaming platform as yet.
