Fashion Icon Karl Lagerfeld, the artistic director at Chanel and an icon in the global fashion industry has, according to reports died, at the age of 85 on Tuesday.
Lagerfeld, known mostly for his dark suits, pony-tailed white hair and tinted sunglasses, was known popularly for his association with Chanel but simultaneously delivered collections for Fendi and his own label.
The house of Karl Lagerfeld confirmed the death writing a post on Instagram saying, “He was one of the most influential and celebrated designers of the 21st century and an iconic, universal symbol of style. Driven by a phenomenal sense of creativity, Karl was passionate, powerful and intensely curious. He leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as one of the greatest designers of our time, and there are no words to express how much he will be missed.”
Not long after the story broke the world took to Twitter to send their condolences;
