The highly anticipated docuseries will look into the suspicious death of Elisa Lam at the infamous Cecil Hotel.
If you are a fan of true crime than you will have heard about the unsolved mystery surrounding the death of a Canadian student, that took place while she was vacationing at the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles.
Netflix’s Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel will take a look into this old case and other cases surrounding the now infamous hotel.
From director Joe Berlinger (Conversations with a Killer: Ted Bundy tapes) the docuseries is the first season in a series that deconstructs the mythology and mystery surrounding infamous locations in contemporary crime.
According to reports, there have been about 12 suicides that have taken place at the hotel. In the series trailer, the hotel manager is seen saying she never got used to being asked if there were rooms available where someone had not died in the hotel. In the series, she goes into detail about some of her experiences working at such a notorious location.
The show will also include the viral videotape of Lam in the hotel elevator which will probably freak you out. It is that very tape that led to the case being so popular.
In an interview with The Independent, Berlinger said the series would put a close to the mystery around Lam’s death, even though her family and friends declined any involvement with it.
“She’s not here to speak for herself, but this is the closest thing we could get to that because we’re hearing directly from her about how she was feeling and what she was thinking about. We wanted to make sure we were telling Elisa’s story as accurately as possible,” Berlinger told the Independent.
He added, “While we can’t know exactly what was going on in her mind that night, I really believe this closes the book on her case.”
The series releases worldwide on the 10th of February on Netflix and whether or not the book will finally be closed on this mysterious case will have to be determined.
