Salads haven’t always had the best reputation especially since they have been viewed as the go-to food when someone is punishing themselves for not sticking to their healthy diet.
Some people (me) hardly even look at the salad options on a menu when eating out.
This might change as salad boards are quickly becoming a trend and replacing the traditional salad bowl. It is also no secret that young people love charcuterie boards which means social media will soon be flooded with people creating their own salad boards.
Traditional cheese and antipasto platters finally have some competition as foodies around the world are experimenting with a variety of food boards.
The founder of the blog, The Delicious Life, Sarah, has been enjoying this trend as she has been sharing her creations since 2020.
In one of her Caesar salad boards, she filled the wooden tray with endive, olives, lemon, avocado, celery, pickled pink onions, roasted garlic, radicchio, green daikon radish, eggs and little gem lettuces.
She completed the board with crunchy cheese, her anchovy vinaigrette and made a yoghurt Caesar.
She has also shared different variations of her boards including one with, cucumber, marinated anchovies, parmesan crisps and crumbles and medium-boiled eggs.
Home decor influencer Audrey Flo also shared her salad board insisting that it was easier to make than it might seem.
Her masterpiece included iceberg lettuce, arugula lettuce, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, block of cheese, thyme and gourmet deli meats.
One of her followers commented, “This makes me want to eat a salad.”
Another food board lover Dana Mazzara-Pinkow shared her creation on Instagram which she filled with all her favourite toppings.
Calling it the new way of eating a salad hers included, roasted red peppers, romaine lettuce, olives, celery, shallots, capers, pepperoncini peppers and a variety of deli meats.
Gone are the days when your salad was simple and boring, now you can create your own Instagrammable salad board using your favourite toppings or trying out some of the recipes above.
