Good music, African prints, and some delicious food pretty much describe this year’s Vodacom Durban July.

People from all over the country came together for the prestigious annual event at the Greyville racecourse in Durban.

TYI got the chance to experience the event that has basically become a part of our culture.

With VIP access into the The Glenlivet JazzTown marquee, we got to see exactly how the elite enjoy the VDJ.

Upon entry, guests were given a bottle of Glenlivet whiskey – 12 years of age – that they could enjoy throughout the day.

The marquee itself was draped in all white with a touch of tropical vibes.

Guests filled the popular marquee enjoying some live performances on the indoor stage.

Performers that kept the guests entertained included Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Dj Bob, The Soil, and Mafikizolo just to name a few.

We spotted the internationally recognized South African singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur Yvonne Chaka Chaka  who was in a yellow gown by designer Lufi-D.

Chef Gavin Pillay who has been cooking at the VDJ for seven years was delighted to cater to the about 1800 people that were expected to attend the Glenlivet JazzTown marquee. On the menu was a variety of dishes including roasted potatoes, butternut, chicken, and a separate dessert station.

The Glenlivet JazzTown marquee was the place to be for great food, the finest whiskey and breathtaking fashion.

The bar was also open the whole day so guests were never left with an empty glass.

If a jazzy more chilled feel is your vibe than this marquee should definitely be your go to if you’re ever attending the VDJ.
