While capetonians wait with anticipation to see their favourite artists perform at the Cape Town carnival on the 18th of March in Green Point, folks in Joburg were lucky enough to watch some of those electrifying performances already!

Performances include artists who will be blazing Cape Town streets this coming Saturday.

In celebration of New York based musician Oshri Elmorich and Rio de Janiero Carnival performers, Unidos da Tijuca’s participation at this year’s Cape Town Carnival Multichoice city brought these musicians to perform at a welcoming party in Johannesburg yesterday to kick off this year’s Cape Town Carnival event.

International musicians, Oshri Elmorich and Unidos da Tijuca took to the stage to give the audience a glimpse of what will be going down this coming weekend.

It is without a doubt that Green Point will be LIT, as both local and international artists set the stage alight.

Oshri who is no stranger to the South African music scene kicked off the celebration with a moving, up beat performance that kept the audience dancing and singing to the lyrics of his hit single “Crazy but Free”.

Did you know?

“Crazy but Free” is the carnival theme song for the Cape Town carnival 2017.

Wrapping up the show were Rio de Janiero Drummers and Dancers “Unidos da Tijuca” who closed the show with a stunning Brazilian indigenous dance.

Oshri said he’s anticipating a great party as he will be performing some of his latest, as well as unreleased songs.

“Because I will be closing the parade, my whole point is to have everyone join me and turn the whole carnival into a massive party. I’m gonna be on that huge magic float with mermaids and dancers all around, so people must just expect a very sick, upbeat party when I take the parade.”

He also explained how the collaboration of his hit single and the theme for this year’s carnival came about.

“Because my song speaks about being free, crazy and swimming naked in the sea, it perfectly resonates with the theme which is all about celebrating freedom and being happy.”

Oshri said that he would still love to have a proper tour in South Africa and spread the love in various parts of the country.

The line up at this year’s carnival includes South Africa’s hottest house and techno Dj’s, Fresh and Euphonik.
