The search for first-year University of Cape Town student Uyinene Mrwetyana has come to an end with an arrest being made by police officers.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with her disappearance  on Saturday but it was not until the man appeared in the Wynberg magistrate’s court on Monday where news broke that he had confessed to raping and taking the life of the nineteen-year-old student.

The state alleged that the man had bludgeoned Mrwetyana with a scale inside the post office. She had allegedly fought back but was knocked unconscious, TimesLive reported.
