From fashion to TV and film to designers, we have seen it all this year with glitz and glamour. Women like Bonang Matheba, Pearl Thusi and the likes that never ever lose their enviable cool-girl and elegant appeal, but each year we have witnessed newcomers pop up and manage to influence, innovate and grab our attention.

These were the women that people read about and found themselves stalking on Instagram and trolling down their Twitter feeds. Here are the seven stars that everyone has been talking about and they will be talking about in 2017.

Bonang Matheba: There is no doubt that the TV presenter and entertainer was one of the most talked about woman in the entertainment industry. She impressed us when she hosted the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMS) with only 24 hours to prepare. One of her requirements was to have her own stylist Harrison Crite flown down from New York for the event.

Pearl Thusi: Pearl Thusi has been trending on social media for the longest time, even having a day dedicated to her #PearlThusiDay after she made her debut on Quantico, US television series. Her fans are mesmerised by her international breakout role on the show, which aired on M-Net’s Vuzu Amp (DSTV channel 103).

Leigh-Anne Williams: Radio DJ and presenter on SABC3’s breakfast show, Expresso, Williams is becoming a rising star in the South African entertainment industry we’re loving her for her dedication and work ethic.

Zulaikha Pate: The 13-year-old Pretoria High School for Girls pupil who made headlines this year with claims that the pupils have been subjected to racism, and they were forbidden to wear African hairstyles such as afros, Bantu knots, dreadlocks and braids. She shocked the nation with her bravery towards adopting natural hair, with her big afro.

Aisha Baker-Parnell: We have seen her own the fashion industry, proving that beauty trends are more than just great style. It’s about confidence, being comfortable in your own skin, and making trends work for you while motivating others to rock the latest trends in the most beautiful and appealing way.

Nomzamo Mbatha: She may have been new on the scene a few years ago but now she has taken over the entertainment scene one giant step at a time. Mzansi has fallen in love with her and beauty. Last year she became the first South African face of international cosmetics brand, Neutrogena. This year she has been climbing the corporate leader with endorsements from PUMA ambassador to movie gigs and hosting gigs.

Minnie Dlamini: It’s not even debatable that Minnie is the IT girl, for the past week she has set the internet into a frenzy with her engagement announcement. She has been trending since then. We might as well declare her as the fiance of the year (we look forward to seeing the big day). She has a lot to celebrate this year, she was introduced by the International gossip website, Bossip.com as “johanessBAE.” After she set the internet crazy with her hot body in figure hugging dress.
