Phindile Mashudulu holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of Witwatersrand. She is also the co-founder of Milisa Global Media.

The company was established in 2015 with the sole purpose of creating an entertainment industry in the Eastern Cape province. The vision of MGM is to use media as a vehicle for positive developments and cultivate Eastern Cape talent.

The company also creates and successfully runs a media and arts industry in the Eastern Cape, with local content being produced, and run as a leading artist management agency in the province with a strong interest in seeing individuals flourish in their personal brands.

They create plays and films with strong messages, which in turn has created jobs for those with artistic interests. They have managed to collaborate with corporate clients and use drama as a means of communication with potential clients and communities.

Phindile set up the business on realising that  talented artists were leaving the provinces and relocating to bigger cities like Johannesburg in pursuit of opportunities and the dream of “making it”, and the few that succeed invest in lives away from their birthplaces for the sake of their livelihoods.

The mission of MGM is to change that notion; and create a big enough arts and culture industry in the province so that people no longer have to leave but can stay within the province and contribute towards the Eastern Cape heritage and economy.

She shared that her work chose her and she was born for it. From a young age, she had an interest in storytelling.

Phindile’s vision is to own office spaces where to the work of various artists can be showcased and getting more recognition.

She sees her work as an instrument to address poverty in the province and as an employment creation tool for young people, who are mostly affected by unemployment.
