Nestled in the leafy suburb of Wynberg, Chelsea Clinic and Spa is a secluded refuge for luxurious beauty treatments and a full-on pamper experience.

From the plush velvet interior and regal silver-grey colour-scheme to it’s quaint outdoor courtyard enclosed with pebbles and greenery, Chelsea Spa is an indulgent space that makes every individual feel spoilt and pampered from the minute they set foot inside.

I was lucky to be treated to a complimentary 90 minute Luxury Facial valued at R920.

I was entrusted to the capable hands of one of Chelsea’s therapists, Nicole.

After settling in to the beautifully adorned treatment room, Nicole began with an introductory neck and shoulder massage (which was superb btw!) and used Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse on my face to remove any traces of makeup and prep the skin for products to follow. This allowed me to feel at ease as she took the opportunity to feel and analyse my skin.

As I alerted her to concerns of dryness on my brow area, she then applied  Image Resurfacing Cleanser to my T-Zone to rejuvenate the skin, using firm, circular motions. A gentle cream exfoliant was massaged into the rest of my face to lighten, brighten and remove dead skin cells. This was accompanied by a facial steam.

Next we moved on to the nitty-gritty – extractions. As the least pleasant part of the facial, it is also the most effective. It entails making small incisions in the skin to unlcog pores and get rid of oil build-up.

Extractions are the most necessary step in any facial treatment.

Included in the Luxury Facial is a high frequency treatment. The high frequency machine injects pulses of electrical current onto the skin which functions as an technologically advanced spot treatment. It produces a slight tingling sensation but works wonders in removing blemishes and giving the skin a soft touch and smooth appearance.

The extractions and high frequency are offered as a seperate 30 minute treatment for R265.

Facial waxing and eyebrow tinting are also optionally included in the facial, which I happily abided by, except instead of eyebrow tinting I opted for threading.

After this procedure, another mask was in the works – this time the Image Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque, applied with a massage. To end off, Nicole applied the Image Biomolecular Anti-Ageing Radiance Masque to add an an overall glow and instant hydration to my skin.

My skin definitely looked and felt revitalised after the facial, sporting a radiance that was fresh and youthful. The rosacea-caused redness I initially had on my cheeks when going in had desipated substantially, and my complexion looked smooth and clear.

Morever, the attentive massages released tension from my aching muscles, meaning I left feeling calm and rejuvenated in my whole body and mind too.
