From Tuesday South Africans will be able to enjoy some cannabis in their pizza at the popular Italian inspired restaurant franchise group, Col’Cacchio.
The restaurant – in partnership with one of Africa’s leading CBD brands africanpure – announced the launch of the first ever cannabis pizza range in South Africa, which will be available at selected Col’Cacchio restaurants this week.
Col’Cacchio is known for being an innovative restaurant brand in SA with healthy dining being a key focus of their offering. They were one of the first to introduce gluten free, low calorie, Banting/ carb-conscious and vegan alternatives to their menu and will now be the first restaurant brand to have a cannabis offering.
Two gourmet Cannabis inspired pizzas will now feature on the menu, the Green Goddess and the Not-So-Plain Mary Jane, which will be retailed at R125 and R140 respectively.
The two pizzas will be drizzled with africanpure CBD oil which contains no THC or synthetic chemicals, making it absolutely safe to enjoy.
Customers will also be able to add CBD oil to any other dish on the Col’Cacchio menu at an additional cost of R25.
“At Col’Cacchio, we have always aimed to be innovative with our menu offering and provide our loyal fan base with the latest health positive trends. We love to stay ahead of the curve and are extremely proud to be the first restaurant in SA to launch a Cannabis pizza and look forward to seeing old and new faces in our restaurants coming in to try this exciting new range,” explained Kinga Baranowska, the restaurants co-founder.
Mike Saunders the co-founder of Africanpure said, “We are really thrilled to be at the forefront of the Cannabis story in South Africa and to be working with one of the country’s most innovative restaurant franchise groups. Col’Cacchio is a model example of what we as africanpure are striving to achieve, using only the very best ingredients and providing wholesome accessible products to all our customers. We are certain that the new Cannabis offering at Col’Cacchio will be a massive hit.”
The announcement comes after the landmark announcement by the Department of Health, saying that Cannabidiol (CBD) can now be legally purchased in SA.
The new Cannabis pizza range will be available at all Col’Cacchio restaurants, excluding the Windhoek and Halaal restaurants. So if you are around Durban head to the branch in uMhlanga and let us know what you think.
