We’re rooting for Demi-Leigh to bring home the Miss Universe crown!
The 22 year old model has been picked as a firm favourite to win the pageant, according to industry insiders, as she ‘fits all the categories.’
“There’s a buzz around Miss Universe and Demi’s chances of taking the crown. She is in a really good position and fits all of the categories.”
The Miss Universe contest, which takes place in Las Vegas on 26 November is now in it’s 66th year and we will see Demi-Leigh battle it out with other beauties from around the globe. The current title holder is Irene Mittenaere of France and the last time a South African won Miss Universe was Margaret Gardiner back in the 70s.
Now Demi-Leigh is looking to represent a new generation of South African winners on the world stage. The young beauty said her preparations for the pageant began back March this year when she was crowned Miss South Africa and since then she has continually shown dedication and commitment to the role.
“She has only received positive feedback and there’s just this sense that she is going to win this. It’s the same feeling we had when Rolene Strauss won!” Miss South Africa source.
Demi-Leigh, who is currently in Vegas preparing for the contest, has been keeping fans up to date about her activities through social media. Check out some of her snaps below on her road to (hopefully) taking the Miss Universe crown.
I got to show off my national gift for the charity auction at Miss Universe on the @topbillingtv set today. It is made from South African gold and diamonds and it was inspired by one of our country’s natural wonders, Namaqualand. I co-designed the pendant with @jackfriedman1933 CEO, Howard Friedman.
