A world-class curated collection of Menswear fashion from local designers, hit the shores of Cape Town.

A showcase of these creative garments featured in the Lexus South African Menswear Week – AW17 over the weekend.

Do note that this showcase is curated by leading industry experts, with a panel that selects and invites the best of established and upcoming designers to participate each season. The South African Menswear Week (SAMW) always aims to provide a world-class platform for menswear designers and brands to showcase their latest collections.

SAMW always takes place within interesting and unexplored settings, with show spaces seating no more than 400 people, and clean, simple show productions with nothing to detract from the clothing.

So no surprises that this season’s SA Menswear Week venue was hosted at the vibrant Palms Lifestyle Centre located on 145 Sir Lowry Road in Woodstock.

Designers managed to maintain an African authenticity within their magnificent collections, culminating in a memorable Saturday evening that ended on a high note.

They stayed true to the form of “Sprezzatura”, an Italian term meaning ‘…certain nonchalance, making whatever one does or say appear to be without effort and almost without any thought about it.’

Fabric creatives flaunted their almost effortless ability to create statement garments that stay true to creative form.

Did you know? The term Sprezzatura originated from ‘The Book of the Courtier’ by Baldassare Castiglione Opening Saturday’s show was Jahnkoy, followed by Rich Mnisi who added some dance moves to the ramp, and amongst the designers who showcased their work, were the likes of Mai Atafo, 2 Bob and Unknown.
