You already know how this goes, Fam!

As seasons change, so do our hairstyles.

It’s so liberating to let your curls down, in all its beautiful kinkiness and waviness.

In winter, it’s easier to get away with bad hair days because most of the time the cold breeze leaves us with no choice but to cover our hair with a fashionable hat, doek, Barret etc.

Besides, nobody has time to pay attention to your hair in winter as we are all trying to keep our bodies warm.

We’re all too fixated on that home cooked meal awaiting us after a hard day or that blazing heater that is just dying to heat our frozen toes.

For the lucky ones? Imagining their warm baes…

Unfortunately in summer all the hats must fall off because its time to get really Lit 🔥🔥🔥.

Ever found yourself stuck in front of the mirror befuddled over what to do next with your natural hair, besides the bun that you have been rocking throughout the month?

Don’t worry we’ve got you covered.

How to keep your curls thriving this Spring:

Hair products are used to nourish and protect your natural hair; this makes it easier to style hair.

The last thing you want is to waste time in front of the mirror struggling to find ways to cover your no-longer-in-existence hairline.

The whole point of going natural is to stay away from using chemicals that damage your hair.

Below are DIY remedies designed for your hair type with organic products that you can find in your kitchen.

1. Hot oil moisturizing treatment

Here are some of the oils that you can consider using for your hair, depending on your hair situation.

Avocado Oil: If your hair is super dry and fizzy. Avocado oil is one of the best remedies to help repair your damaged hair.

Coconut oil: This oil is heavy and rich for your hair. Just the perfect nourishment you need to go deep through your hair shaft and regain your natural shine.

Olive oil: Yes! Not only is olive oil good for your body but it is also the answer when your dry and fizzy hair cries out for help. Stop going to salons because the solution is just in your kitchen. Deeply moisturize your hair with olive oil, dry or wet.

Remember, this treatment helps repair dry and breaking hair. Show your hair some love this summer by applying this treatment.

How to prepare a hot oil moisturizing treatment:

Step 1: Buy avocado oil, coconut oil, or olive oil
Step 2: Wash your hair and leave it wet
Step 3: Prepare hot water into a bath or bucket
Step 4: Heat your preferred oil (olive/coconut/ avocado)

Tip: You can mix all the oils so that you get the benefits from each oil

Step 5: Use your finger tips to dip into the hot oil and gently massage it into your scalp
Step 6: Leave the hot oil moisturizer into your scalp for 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much your hair is damaged.
Step 7: Rinse hair and style it to your desired style

Styling hair can also be a huge problem to most women as we never know what the hell to do with our kinky hair. Don’t worry we got your back.

Here’s what to do:

1. Wash ‘n’ go

Keep it simple and classic, this hairstyle is super easy and saves time.

This is exactly what you do: wash your hair and go.

Tip: find the right conditioner that will hold your curls longer and use a hair accessory.

Add your statement accessory!

2. Messy bun

First pull your hair into a pony tail.

Don’t worry about a comb or making perfectly slicked back strands because the point of the hairstyle is for your hair to be messy.

It’s your decision, whether you’d like to leave your bun high up or low.

The look is effortless, you can achieve it in five minutes.

3. Halo: Crown it!

Your hair is your crown and glory.

The halo crown hairstyle allows you to wear your natural hair with style.

Halo crowns work best for formal events as they keep your hair neat and tight.

Making the crown is easy, all you need is a comb.

Comb your hair, part it into two sections so that you can separate the length. Start braiding your hair until the tip and put it together as a crown.

You can either use a clip to keep the hair strands together or just leave it as is.

4. Finger coil it

Finger coil requires some time especially if you are a beginner but by the time you are done you will look sleek for at least 2 weeks.

There are a lot of YouTube tutorial videos that can help you achieve the look. My personal favorite is by Natural Hair Rebel.
