Day Zero to hit city of Cape Town 9 days sooner

Cape Town taps may run dry sooner than projected. Day Zero has been brought forward to April, 12 this is around 9 days earlier than the initial date because of the 1.4% drops in dam levels. The water in the last 105 of the municipal dams is unsuitable for human consumption.

When the dams reach 13.5% all the taps will be turned off by the city. People will be forced to queue for water from approximately 200 water collection sites across the city that will operate 24/7. Each person will only be allowed to collect 25 litres, to be used for washing, cooking and personal hygiene.

Hugh Masekela’s funeral closed to the public

On Thursday the family announced that Masekela’s funeral will only be open to family members, close friends and industry colleagues as this was his dying wish. “The father of South African jazz”, 78 has died. Masekela was a legendary trumpeter, corneter, sing and composer.

He died on Tuesday after a long battle with prostate cancer. His death is an immeasurable death to his family, friends, fans and the whole nation, including President Jacob Zuma. The president said the nation would mourn a man who “kept the torch of freedom alive”.

Scandal star dies

While SA was still reeling from the death of Hugh Masekela news broke of another stars death. Sandy Mowena, 68 famously known as “Brah Eddie” in Scandal. Sunrise morning show confirmed the death of their actor. Brah Eddie was ill and died in hospital in Johannesburg. The cause of his death is still unknown.

German nurse charged with killing 97 patients

Nurse Niels Hoegel is on trial for the murder of 97 patients. If he is found guilty of these charges, he will be known as the deadliest serial killer in Germany. He confessed to injecting his victims with lethal doses of medication so he could try to revive them because it made him feel like a hero.

The British to Crack Fake News

The British are cracking down on countries spreading false news with the launch of their “fake news unit”. This comes after the British Prime Minister Theresa May previously accused Russia of meddling in elections and its state media of planting fake stories and photoshopped images to undermine western institutions.

Last November, the British Prime Minister said that Russia was looking to weaponize information and was deploying state-run organisations to deploy fake news in an attempt to sow discord in the West.

Katy Perry is set to visit South Africa on her Witness tour. The American award-winning singer and songwriter will be performing in South Africa for the first time, but she is not coming to the Western region and this breaks millions of hearts.

Kim Kardashian plans for baby number 4?

After welcoming her third child into the world. Kim Kardashian is reportedly keen to add another baby to her already dazzling bunch.
