The first class affair of tennis has began, the Wimbledon Tennis Championship.
The world will once again tune in and rock their heads from side to side as they play witness to the oldest tennis tournament in the world, taking place at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
The Wimbledon Championship is one of the most anticipated sporting events in the world. This year’s tournament promises to live up to all the hype of previous tournaments.
I mean Stan the Man, Stanislas Wawrinka already took the first plane home after being sent packing by the unseeded Daniil Medvedev on centre court yesterday.
There will be a huge absence at the All England Lawn in ladies section, as the “Queen of Open Era Tennis” Serena Williams will not partake in this year’s grand event.
This will surely give some of the other competitors some new profound hope of going a step further this time around.
Her sister and five time Wimbledon champion Venus must believe she still has it in her, I believe she does.
She has appeared in only one grand slam final since winning Wimbledon back in 2008. That final being the 2017 Australian Open final, which she lost to younger sister Serena.
If she wins it will be her first open crown in nearly 10 years.
Can Venus write her name in the history books again?
World number one and the top seeded women’s player Angelique Kerber will be full of confidence going into the tournament.
She will have to look out for the unseeded players, as this tournament has proven before that the best don’t always make it to the final.

Yes, Novak Djokovic is probably the best tennis player in his day and will be a huge favourite to have his name engraved on the trophy again.
The two of them are exceptional players, their credentials speak for themselves and they will be hotly tipped to contest the final at SW19.

Their 13 year storied rivalry is simply known as Fedal.
