Pangolins are the most trafficked mammal on earth. This pangolin is one of the lucky ones. He was picked up by chance by  Mpumalanga veterinary surgeon, Dr. Helena Rampf on a district road near Hoedspruit, bordering The Kruger National Park. Abandoned, confused, dehydrated and showing signs of concussion from possibly being run over or hit by a car judging by the black rubber marks, this week-old male pangolin weighed only 1.7kg. It’s possible he fell out of a poacher’s car. After many months of care, he was transferred to the conservation team at The &BEYOND Phinda Private Game Reserve. Over months this little pangolin gained weight to a point where he was ready for release into the wild. The & BEYOND Phinda Private Game Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal offers various conservation experiences for guests who would like to get involved with assisting in the conservation of their endangered species. This conservation experience was made possible by Lottoland South Africa. Photographer: Armand Hough/African News Agency(ANA)
