In true Beyonce fashion, Queen B not only SLAYED her performance but completely dominated the entire Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this weekend.

The songstress made history as the first ever woman of colour to headline the festival. Her highly-anticipated two-hour set was met with a complete meltdown by the #BeyHive on Twitter, as well as all those tuned-in from around the globe thanks to the Coachella livestream.

In honour of her historic performance, fans dubbed the festival #BeyChella, while the New York Times labelled her as “bigger than Coachella” and the world was in agreement.

Beyonce commanded the festivals’ main stage with an electrifying performance and powerful message on feminism and black culture that overshadowed the usually laid-back atmosphere that Coachella represents. She took fans on a journey of black history, paying homage to icons such as Nina Simon, Fela Kuti and ancient egyptians, accompanied by a marching band, drumline and choir.

Hubby Jay-Z and sister Solange Knowles also made an appearnance on stage, while B surprised fans with a reunion with fomer Destiny’s Child band-mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to the delight of the crowd.

Of course Twitter was ablaze with candid reactions about #BeyChella and the greatness of seeing an icon living in her natural habitat.
