Divergent actor Shailene Woodley has spoken out about being arrested for ‘trespassing’ on Monday during a protest to stop construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline and was later released from jail.

Known for her social and environmental activism, Woodley was amongst about a reported one hundred people who turned up to protest the building of the Dakota Access Pipeline threatening the water safety and sacred, historic and cultural sites of the Standing Rock Indigenous American tribes in the area, as the pipeline would cut across their river.

She took to her Instagram to speak out about the arrest and being unfairly singled out because she’s famous.

Shailene has vowed to continue protesting the pipeline construction despite the arrest, by endorsing the movement, raising awareness on social media and fundraising with T-shirts written: “I stand with Standing Rock.”
