The biggest names in fashion all looked their best at the 22nd annual SA Style Awards ceremony held at Sandton City over the weekend.
The Awards ceremony hands
The winners of the official trophies were pre-announced earlier this month but we could not resist sharing some of the best looks from the event.
K Naomi
The hair + the sequin pant suit + the belt = it all just works.
Nosipho’s Verdict: Listen, the Marilyn Monroe inspired hairstyle was made for Naomi. Her skin tone against the subtle
Ayanda Thabethe
The Biji – La Maison de Couture dress looks like it captured a swan in mid-flight and the overall effect is breathtaking.
Nosipho’s Verdict: (sigh) Initially this look was amazing to me because the dress looks like feathers were stuck on her skin but now I feel like this could have been better. The length I don’t appreciate at all and I only realized now that the one shoulder is sleeveless but the other is not and the one shoulder has detail but the other does not. It’s just not that great, but Ayanda is gorgeous so does it even matter?
Penny Lebyane
Penny looked regal in this multicoloured ensemble.
Nosipho’s Verdict: Penny looked amazing, the only thing I would have done more would be to add jewellery. A nice pair of earrings, a bracelet or just anything that shines really.
Kerishnie Naiker
Model Kerishnie Naidoo looked stunning in this Juan William Aria piece.
Nosipho’s Verdict: So a dear friend of mine said this is a safe look for Kerishnie, which may be true BUT I love it. I mean if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right girl? A blunt wavy bob would have been my hairstyle of choice but I’m just extra.
Nandi Madida and Zakes Bantwini
These two have to be the cutest couple ever…
Nosipho’s Verdict: See now I don’t know about this one. I am torn because I love these two (never met them but they look like such nice people). Nandi’s hat screams Durban July
Linda Mtoba
The actress and fashionista can literally do no wrong hey… or can she?
Nosipho’s verdict: Our team agreed that Linda is gorgeous and her Instagram account proves she has amazing style. With this outfit though we had different opinions. I don’t mind this look at all. The dramatic sleeves give me life. It’s perfect for a high tea vibe but the style awards? maybe not so much.
Tino Chinyani
The sizzling model and presenter
Nosipho’s Verdict: Okay cue the R&B playlist because I am in love. (No jokes I would marry this guy today!) Tino looks amazing in anything, even just a bath towel (look him up on Instagram). He has an amazing body and this suit shows that off perfectly. I love how he added those shoes just to spice things up a little…
Dj Zinhle and Lerato Kganyago
Nosipho’s Verdict: (sigh) So initially this is what I thought of this look before discussing it with the team, “One of my favourite looks, Zinhle’s two-piece is a merge of Clueless/ retro Barbie vibes. And of course, Lerato’s pantsuit is to die for.” Now after looking at Zinhle’s outfit for a good hour and honestly having people plant seeds of doubt in me (LOL) I have a different opinion.
I love the skirt, the shirt too, the coat
