Africa’s richest race day attracted South Africa’s top celebrities and influencers who showed up in an array of prints, fabrics and other fascinating fashion expressions.

With this year’s theme being African luxury: Precious Metals, the red carpet was illuminated with striking silver and dazzling gold  (even from our dapper gents), dramatic headgear, prints and even real metal courtesy of seen on Nina Hastie’s literal yet tasteful interpretation of the theme. 

These were are top looks spotted on the red carpet and in the G.H. Mumm Paddock club today:

1. Boity Thulo in Jessica Molebatsi  said “There’s no better duo than gold and silver, even though they don’t always go together, I thought with the Met you can go as extreme as you want.”

2. Tembisa Mdoda went with a Dainty Frocks creation and a stunning face-beat by Nomsa Madida.

3. Durban based fashion designer Nolanga Made made sure TV darling Kamo Modisakeng was head and shoulders above the rest on red carpet looks in this gold pleated gown.

4. Top Billing’s Fezile ‘Fez’ Mkhize opted for a suit a golden mustard hue from Markham, styled by Siyabonga of Style Candy.
