Monday sees the start of the National Senior Certificate exams for about 150000 matrics in Gauteng.

Exams start in 881 schools and centres across the province, with the last paper on November 28.

Monday sees the writing of foreign language papers, so for many the first exam is tomorrow’s English Home Language, with the first accounting paper on Wednesday and mathematics on Friday.

Independent Examinations Board exams started with some computer and IT practicals and elective subjects, and it too begins with numerous foreign language exams Monday.

English Home Language paper one is on November 2, with the last English paper on November 23. The final Independent Examinations Board exam is on November 29.

The minister of basic education will release the overall results on January 4 and MECs for education will release provincial results – including Gauteng – on January 5.
