If that was not enough, iTunnes crowned “Wololo” as the Song As the Year, saying that the hit song is an “exhilarating party by SA’s new dance-floor darling”. She took to Instagram with the caption, “I’m so thankful and grateful for everything God has done for me ?.”

While the artist is well known, some of you don’t know that her real name is Bongekile Simelane. Her stage name means “famous Babes.”

Explaining the origins of the name in a interview on The Citizen, she said when she was born, there was a group called The Babes and she had eyes like one of its members, which her father always referred to and said “Louw’ Babes’ (this one is Babes).”

The ‘Wodumo’ came because she used to do dancing, acting, soccer, athletics, and was good at them all and became famous for them.
