CAPE TOWN – Celebrities are starting to publicly embrace their spirituality. In the past year, we have seen more celebrities coming out with their call. From Boity Thulo to The Soil’s Buhle Mda, and Mmabatho Montsho this year we have seen them being celebrated and criticised for their calling.

Boity made her announcement earlier on this year as she made a decision to wear her Sangoma beads entirely for Heritage Day. It set the internet into a frenzy.

The Soil’s soul sister made an shocking announcement when she excepted her calling and arranged a temporary replacement for the group. We have not heard anything since then as singer decide to keep everything away from the public.

Rumors of actress and director Mmabatho Montsho surfaced early this year as she confirmed it on SABC 1’s music talk show Zaziwa were she shared her spiritual journey to becoming a sangoma.

The recent one to add to the list is actress Tina Jaxa. It was reported on Times Live that she has been a sangoma for 20 years already but she kept it from the public.
