Seabelo Senatla is at the top of his game.

In 2016, he was named World Rugby’s Sevens Player of the Year, adding to the Olympic bronze he won as part of Team SA. It all started in 2013 when Senatla’s innate ability to score tries, his undeniable humility, (both on and off the field) and his trademark dreadlocks ensured his professional debut got noticed by selectors and fans alike.

The high-flying Senatla, who started his rugby journey playing Varsity Shield rugby for the Central University of Technology, has already had a stellar 2017 season.

He has become the all-time highest try scorer for South Africa. He broke the long-standing record held by former great, Fabian Juries, when the BlitzBokke lifted the title at the Wellington leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series. Senatla has hit pause on his Sevens career as he tries his hand at the 15-man code.

But Sevens fans shouldn’t fear. Senatla is adamant that he is not done with Sevens just yet. It’s clear that no matter the number of players on the field, Senatla has rugby in his blood, and will continue to dominate whichever format he chooses.
