At 23, Dr Musawenkosi “Musa” Saurombe is the youngest female PhD Graduate in Africa after graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Industrial Psychology, from North-West University.
Suarombe joined a list of elite record-breaking young scholars that have wowed the world. Zimbabwe-born Saurombe was raised in Botswana and educated in South Africa. “From about the age of five, everyone referred to me as Doctor because I was all about science,” she said in an interview.
The prodigy said the world was her oyster as she excelled in economics, accounting and the field that she eventually landed on – human resources and industrial psychology. According to This Is Africa, she started her university career with a B.Com at the age of 16 which she completed at 19.

Leading to her postgraduate studies, she received her honours and master’s degrees with distinctions at the age of 20 and 21 respectively. Suarombe’s achievements include being awarded by the Institute of People Management (IPM) as the Youth Leader of the Year for 2018/19.
Apart from being an ambassador for the #LikeAGirl campaign which strives to ensure that girls everywhere remain confident throughout puberty, Suarombe is also a highly sought-after speaker. She recently shared the stage with world heavyweights at The Global Leadership Summit 2017.
Suarombe insists that young people should be exposed to quality education in order to find lasting solutions to challenges facing society. “Education is the key to success as many doors can open for you if you have something to back you up,” she says in an KDanielles Media interview.

By so doing, she believes, young people can maximise their role as an asset and contribute actively to the development of society.
