The sudden death of singer and Idols runner-up Thami Shobede has left his friends and fans in shock. 

The thirty-one year old reportedly died on Thursday morning after a short illness.  

The record label he was signed to, Gallo Records confirmed his death to Sowtan Live saying Shobede died at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

“Gallo Record Company is extremely saddened and shocked to learn of the sudden passing of one of our artists Simphiwe Thamsanqa Shobede, fondly know as Thami,” general manager at Gallo Reords, Robert Cowling told Sowetan. 
Idols winner Karabo Mogane reacted to the news on Twitter saying he was shocked and confused. 

Idols also expressed their condolences saying “We are saddened by the passing of our former Idols SA contestant, 
@ThamiShobede, a very talented musician with lots still to offer to the music industry.”
Others expressed their shock and sadness at the news of Shobede’s passing.
