The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town was set to be the highlight of all things fashion in Cape Town but unfortunately we went from Mother City to “Windy City”.

Directors of the event cancelled the show on Saturday, due to high risk weather. Fashionistas were asked to vacate the premises with orders to not take any selfies as it was a matter of safety.

Ultimately these cancellations ended up disappointing a lot of guests purely because of how PR dealt with the change of plans.

The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town was held in two marquees set up on the Camps Bay playground right opposite the beach.

On the first day of the event, the last show was cancelled due to windy weather and then on Friday, an hour into the first runway show, the night was cancelled again due to…you guessed it, windy weather.

This lead to the entire event being cancelled on Saturday as well.

Now, I totally understand that the weather was a serious safety risk but c’mon people! What did they think would have happened at an outside venue, in marquees, opposite the Camp’s Bay beach (one of the windiest places in Cape Town)?

Not to worry, fashion lovers! AFI has announced that the event is NOT cancelled, just postponed! HOORAY!

You may now keep that outfit that was meant for the last and final day and orchestrate three more fashionable outfits for the postponed date.

Double the outfits!

I don’t know about you but I sure am excited.

#MBFWCT has been postponed to the 6th, 7th and 8th of April and the venue has been changed to a lovely INSIDE venue at the Salt River Studios.
