It’s been a big week for Serena Williams, who continued her winning streak off the tennis court with the launch of her first fashion line.

The new wife and mom returned to the court this week to win the first Grand Slam match she’s played since giving birth to baby Alexis in September. But that’s not all she has to celebrate.

The now 24-time Grand Slam title winner unveiled her 12-piece clothing line, Serena to fans via her Instagram.

Ranging from expected athleisure to denimwear, feminine dresses and fitted blazers, the line is stylish and sophisticated – yet for Serena, it’s about so much more than just fashion.

The athlete, who’s always been a source of inspirationa and motivation to women around the world, aims to send a message of self-love and confidence through her clothes.

Speaking to WWD, she said: “The customer is a girl or a woman who believes in herself, or wants to believe in herself; maybe she’s feeling unconfident that day. And someone that is unapologetically themselves, and that maybe they stand out; maybe they stand out because they are strong or they’re beautiful or they want to not be the norm. Our woman is someone who looks at fashion as a compass to show who they are, to show what they are.”

She describes a track pants from the “motivational” section of her line, which bears the matra “I am beautiful, I am strong” running down the trouser leg.

“This is our ‘friendly reminder’ pant, just in case you forget; if you’re having a tough day, you look down and you’re like, ‘You know what, I got this. I’m strong, I’m beautiful, I got this,” she says.

Stand out pieces from the collection include the ‘Knockout’ metallic knee-length bomber jacket and an easy-to-wear evening slip-dress that can be dressed up or down.
