Taking care of house plants can be stressful because without the right amount of attention and care, the plants will die on you.

Without the correct knowledge, you can either go overboard by over-watering your plants or be like me, and neglect them so much that they dry up and die.

This is an issue because plants are a good decorative addition to the home and they can boost your mood, productivity, concentration and creativity. They can also reduce stress, fatigue, and help clean the air in your home.

Those good energies all go out the window though if you let your plants die. Here are some low maintenance plants that will not die on you easily.

Aloe plant

One of the best indoor companions you can get is an aloe plant. The succulent with long pointed leaves is easy to look after and easy on the eyes. It also has medicinal properties which will come in handy if you have a burn or skin irritation.

To take care of it aloe needs a lot of light, even artificial light will do. Normal room temperatures around 27 degrees Celsius, will help keep your plant alive. For the best results avoid frequently watering the plant because it survives better in dry soil.

Jade plant

Continuing with the succulents theme, a jade plant has thick, lush leaves and very interesting branches. It grows slowly and has the potential to live for over 70 years making it the perfect companion for growing families.

Similar to aloe, jade plants don’t require a lot of water, so ensure that the soil is kept somewhat dry. The plant thrives in bright light and ordinary room temperatures. The chances of this plant dying on you are very slim.

Heartleaf philodendron

Perfect for homes with bookshelves and high ceilings, the trailing house plant will bring a beautiful element into your home. Similar to the snake plant you don’t have to worry about keeping it in sunlight because it survives in a range of lighting conditions.
