Millennial pink chocolate is the latest foodie trend that’s about to take over your Insta feed.

As if we couldn’t love this treat any more for it’s chocolatey goodness and comforting qualities, it has now received a full-on makeover in the pretties shade of pink (which we LOVE), thanks to the cocoa production company Barry Callebaut.

The company first discovered a new type of cocoa bean, known as the ‘ruby’ bean 13 years ago and has since been developing and refining a product that they can finally release into the market.

However, the arrival of pink chocolate on our supermaket shelves couldn’t come at a more suitable time, as the current trends of turning everyday food into brightly-coloured and fun confection – such as unicorn Frappuccino’s, rainbow cakes, smoothie bowels and more, means it is sure to be hit with millennial consumers and their social media foodie culture.

The best part? It’s all natural. The ruby beans are grown in Ecuador, Brazil and Ivory Coast and are not genetically modified at all.

“We don’t add flavourings, we don’t add colouring or additives: it’s purely coming out of this bean, and it’s all natural,” said Peter Boone, chief innovation and quality officer for Barry Callebaut.

The flavour has been described being ‘absolutely unique’, which is that of chocolate but with a sweet freshness and berry-fruitiness to it.

One thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to taste – and take pics – of this incredible new invention, which is said to be available in countries around the world within the next 6 to 18 months.
