Choosing your baby’s name is among the biggest decisions you will make, and something that will be with your child for life.

And while past years have included rather unusual choices including Apple (think Gwyneth Paltrow) and even Bear (think Cheryl and Liam Payne), 2018 looks set to be a rather more traditional one in nurseries.
With names ending in ‘a’ such as Amelia and Ella predicted to be popular for little girls, names starting with ‘R’ or ‘Th’ such as Reuben or Theo are set to be top choices for boys. But despite the rather classic nature of the year’s trend, there will still be a twist – in the form of more gender neutral names, as highlighted by Mother & Baby.
With gender neutral clothing promoted by the likes of Jaden Smith for Louis Vuitton rising in popularity, unisex names look set to follow. Andy, Max, Alex and Charlie are all on the list, with female celebrities boasting the name including actress Andie MacDowell and former Eastenders star Charlie Brooks.

For further inspiration here are the top ten names for 2018, as picked by the bestselling Baby Names 2018.
