Music and entertainment, often over-looked when planning a wedding, but if you’ve been a bride or groom, you’ll know the importance of this item on the checklist.

This is where The Wedding Party comes in! They have an extensive book of tried and tested solo artists, bands and DJs  – perfect for your wedding – from ceremony through to pre-drinks and the reception.

Please tell us how the Wedding Party was born?

The Wedding Party was an idea born out of co-founder Dan Green’s experience of playing in the well-known cover band ‘Me & Mr Green’.

Dan noticed that the entertainment side of the wedding was often neglected, and quite often a panicked last minute stress for both bride and groom. Dan then partnered with musician Louise Day, to put together the perfect mix of experience, contacts, and know-how in order to provide a world-class entertainment solution for any size and theme wedding.

You’ve noticed that the entertainment side of a wedding is often neglected, why do you believe that is?

Many brides and grooms don’t realise how much goes into finding the right acts for weddings, as well as what is required for sound. Often this is left to the last minute and the best acts are booked.

How important is it to have a wedding check list?

There is so much detail that goes into a wedding! Check lists are essential to make sure that every little part is covered. We have a detailed music check list that gets poured over for every event.

What’s the biggest advice you can give to future brides and grooms?

Don’t underestimate how much music can add to your day.

For example the ceremony is such a special moment and often brides and grooms don’t know what music to choose.

The moment when the bride walks in is one of the biggest moments of the day.

We advise our clients to choose a song that means something to them both. We also suggest to  our clients to open some wine and send them some musical thought starters to get the musical ideas flowing.

Have you ever worked with a bridezilla and why do you think brides to be turn into one?

To be honest we have never really had a bridezilla on our hands. Generally, brides get edgy when expectations aren’t met. We go through a detailed approval process to make sure that the music matches what the couple were hoping for.

What’s the best part of the job?

Getting that message from the couple raving about the music. It makes all the hard work worth it.

And the worst?

When it rains! It always adds a spanner in the works, but we always make a plan and events experience makes it easier to know how to make it work come rain or shine.

Can you predict some Wedding Trends?

We are definitely seeing a trend towards couples wanting to be unique in the music they choose by the different variety of acts we are currently booking. There is also a great demand for live music, especially live bands at the reception.

Let’s talk Royal Wedding… what did you think of the day.

We thought it was magical and loved how different and unexpected the music was. Our favourite moment had to be the rendition of ‘Stand By Me’ by the gospel choir. We also thought the first dance song was a great choice! Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ is a great classic number.

Who would be your dream celebrity to work with on a wedding?

We have been very lucky to work with some South African celebs, but if we could choose a dream one it would be Ed Sheeran.

His music, especially ‘Perfect’ and ‘Thinking Out Loud’ have seen many a bride down the aisle and we would love see who he would have play on his wedding day.

Biggest Wedding No No if all time?

Bad sound. Nothing ruins an event more!

Name a few songs that you can never go wrong with on your wedding play list?

To get your dance floor rocking these would be three of our favourites.

  • I gotta a feeling – Black Eyed Peas,
  • Blurred Lines – Robin Thike feat TI and Pharrell
  • Everywhere – Fleetwood Mac
