“The world must be a better place because I’m here, not in spite of me being here.”

This drive to change the world is what motivates Dinesh Patel, 35, the founder of OrderIn – one of the first mobile food ordering and delivery services of its kind in South Africa.

Patel grew up in Durban and, after graduating high school, travelled to America to play golf at university. The Big Apple was the setting for his burgeoning career as a banker, working for industry titans Deloitte, and Goldman Sachs. But it was not to be.

At least not forever.

A series of fateful events brought Patel back home where he found investors to back his vision to revolutionise the way South Africans order food online. Today, OrderIn allows customers to order from restaurants in their vicinity using a simple website or mobi site.

This innovative start-up, which has been featured by the likes of Finweek, TechCentral and Forbes, reaches 12 cities, from Cape Town to Pretoria, with an offering that includes 54 different types of cuisine from over 650 partner restaurants.

Inspired by his father who made the necessary sacrifices to invest in his son’s future, Patel always honours where he came from and believes in where he is going.
