Perseverance, constant learning, and being professional in everything you do – that’s how Elvis Sekhaolelo, serial social entrepreneur approaches business, as much as life.
His own “constant learning” started at UCT where he studied Economics and Finance. An executive development programme at Stellenbosch Business School followed, where he was named one of the 100 Brightest Young Minds in SA. Putting his skills into practice, he interned in corporate finance banking before trying his hand at marketing, and eventually starting his own companies in 2012.
Founders@work is a digital marketing and communication agency providing institutions and companies with access to the township market. Its clients include News Café, the City of Joburg, and The National Youth Development Agency.
On the non-profit side, EKasi Entrepreneurs helps equip small business owners in townships with the right tools, training, and mentoring they need to be a success.
EKasi also helps facilitate public-private collaborations. Sekhaolelo hopes that it will one day grow into a platform for African entrepreneurs to come to for advocacy, in both the government and private sectors. Now 30, Sekhaolelo is globally recognised as a champion for the development of township entrepreneurs.
He has been selected as one of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers, and a fellow of the Scottish Power of Youth organisation.
