Yellow in all its forms – from the brightest canary tone to mustard and muted gold – has established itself as the IT colour of 2017.

First being spotted on the Spring-Summer runways of Europe’s fashion capitals and then making headway on the red carpet, adorned by some of our favourite film stars (think Emily Ratajkowski in THAT yellow Reem Acra dress with the plunging neckling at a Golden Globes after party), it has now been adopted into a fully fledged trend.

A staple in mainstream fashion markets and department stores, it shows no sign of subsiding any time soon. We’re inspired by these stylish celebs to incorporate a pop of yellow into our everyday wardrobes.

Here are 5 ways to rock the hottest colour trend of the season.

1.   Matching Twin Set

Matching twin-sets are huge right now and local influencer and fashion enthusiast, Nabilah Kariem, was sophisticated in a mustard pin-stripe set from Zara. The clean lines and simple silhouette keeps the look muted whilst still being eye-catching with its buttery shade.

2. Wide Leg Pants

The ever-trendy Kendall Jenner looked anything but frumpy when she donned these high-fashion wide leg sweatpants from her Kendall and Kylie collection and a lace cami from Gucci. For days when you crave comfort without skimping on style, throw on some wide leg pants such as these.

3. Glitzy and Glam

Supermodel Gigi Hadid looked party ready in this sparkly number. Yellow is often perceived as a ‘day time’ colour but combined with another trend on the rise – sequins, and a daring cut, it can look as dazzling as an LBD on a glitzy night out.

4. Keep it casual and versatile

Queen Rih was a ball of sunshine at her recent Fenty Beauty launch in September. In true style, she paired an ultra feminine statement piece (the incredible skirt) with a laid-back plain sweatshirt that could be paired with almost anything from jeans and sneakers to black skinnies, heels and a biker jacket for an edgier ensemble. A simple yellow t-shirt that can be mixed and matched in various styles will ensure you’re always on trend without sacrificing your personal style and unique taste.

5. Knitted Up

Vanessa Hudgens is a seasoned street-style star and her take on the yellow trend with this cropped-top knitted jersey is suitable for everyday wear that can be dressed up or down. Throw it on over a flowy dress for those chillier summer evenings or pair it with high-waisted jeans and sneakers for the ultimate cool-girl style.
